Parallel Coronagraph-WFI Programs
This page provides details on APT functionality regarding Coronagraph programs with WFI parallel observations.
A WFI program may be executed in parallel with a Coronagraph program as the prime. Since WFI is the guider, WFI may collect science data in parallel while the Coronagraph is collecting necessary calibrations prior to CGI science activities. The prime Coronagraph program is not planned by APT and must be created externally.
- Parallel programs are available only for Category = CAL , COM , ENG .
- Only one parallel WFI visit is allowed per Coronagraph visit.
To indicate a program is Parallel, select Parallel on the the Program Information form, then select Ground in the Loop = YES , NO .
If Ground in the Loop = YES , the program is to be executed in parallel with the CGI Ground in the Loop Visits.
When Parallel is selected, several changes are made to the Pass Plan form to set up the WFI program as a parallel:
- The PASS TARGET is set to PARALLEL and cannot be changed.
- The only options allowed for OPTICAL ELEMENT are F106 , F129 , F158 , F184 and F213 .
- Mosaic patterns, Dithers, and Subpixel Dithers are not available.
- Min Exposure and Max Exposure are required. Enter the maximum and minimum number of exposures requested for the selected observation. Allowed range is 1 to 99 . Max Exposure must be greater than or equal to Min Exposure .
- Requirements and Linking Requirements are not allowed on Observations or Survey Steps.
